Hatha Yoga

This class is taught by:

David Oliphant

After working in the corporate world of hospitality, travel and entertainment for most of his adult life, a reality came over David that while he was living a wonderful and exciting life, he was doing little to touch, support and be of service to others. A calling he always "felt", but didn't fully understand how to share until he found yoga (David actually believes that yoga found him)! Of course, this awareness changed his own journey as well. Having been an endurance athlete and taking part in triathlons, marathons and endurance races, David is very aware of how ones body acts and reacts as well as the potential for injures as it relates to sports. His classes focus on the wellness of the muscles, injury care and prevention and syncing up the breath, heart and mind to allow for stillness.

With awareness comes change and soon David made the shift from "Wall Street to Wellness", receiving his 200 hour Hatha Yoga Certification in 2006. His calling to wellness continues to expand and David now holds additional certifications in Thai Yoga Bodywork and Reiki Energy Healing. To read more about David visit www.yogawithdavid.com

She is well versed in many styles of yoga, creating a unique approach to energize, heal, and integrate the body and soul. With a background in psychology and behavioral therapy, Sarah has years of experience working with children affected by DD and ASD, with a specialized certification for Autism spectrum diagnosed children through YEAS Yoga. She also specializes in working with athletes, singers (check out her website sarahfletchersoprano.com), as well as individuals experiencing illness or injury to the musculo-skeletal and neuro-muscular systems.

Klaus Lehrach

Klaus Lehrach is a playful yet sincere student of yoga. He lives in the Half Moon Bay area with his wife Amanda and two cats.

He has been teaching since 1992. He has studied with some of the top American yoga teachers including Richard Freeman (yogaworkshop.com) and John Friend (anusara.com) and gives thanks each day for their generous guidance. He brings humor and lightheartedness into his classes, yet reminds his students that yoga is a spiritual practice that can help us awaken to our True Nature. Klaus has detailed knowledge of alignment principles and therapeutic application of yoga, respect for each student, and encourages awakening to what is. Classes are geared to reflect the abilities and diversity of the students.

Klaus’ studies have included the fundamental texts of yoga philosophy; The Bhagavad-Gita, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and the Upanisads. He has also been influenced by his studies of Zen Buddhism with the San Francisco Zen Center.

Marianne Linn

Born and raised in Germany, Marianne discovered the seeds of yoga, meditation and bodywork while traveling extensively in Asia. She has been studying and practicing yoga and meditation for over 20 years. In 1994, she was certified with the Sivananda Vedanta Yoga Society in Austria and continued her studies in the Iyengar and Astanga Vinyasa traditions, completing the teacher-training program at the Iyengar Institute in San Francisco. Marianne has been a student of Shandor Remete for over ten years and his Shadow Yoga greatly influences her practice and teaching. Her study of T'ai Chi and Qi Gong has also deepened her awareness of and connection to the presence of the universal life force energy. Marianne’s asana teachings draw from the essential elements of many great teachers such as Shandor Remete, Ana Forest, Andre Lappa, Sarah Powers, Paul Grilley, Doug Keller, S.N.Goenka and Adyashanti, as well as from her own experience as a Bodyworker and from her study of the Nature of Mind.

Marianne’s classes provide a supportive and light-hearted atmosphere where students are encouraged to learn to explore the harmonics of postural alignment and the connection between body, breath and mind. At the beginning of the month Marianne creates and offers a new vinyasa sequence, where one's focus on transitions, the "going in to" and "coming out of" a posture is as important as being in the posture. The practice becomes a meditation in motion. Marianne designs her classes with experienced beginners and intermediate level students in mind, although beginners and all sincere students are welcome. Marianne has been a certified Bodywork Practitioner since 1996. She offers Shiatsu, Therapeutic Thai Massage, Deep Tissue, Chi Nei Tsang, Prenatal Massage, and On-Site Chair Massage. Marianne is also available for Somatic Yoga Therapy and Private yoga coaching sessions.

Renee Sera

Renee has been practicing yoga with mentors in a variety of traditions since 2004. It was the balance, beauty, and stillness that she wanted to share with others that led her to become an instructor, receiving her 200 hour RYT credential in 2010. She then purchased the studio where she received her training, Pretzel’s Yoga School, and opened Yoga Fountain, which remained in operation until 2014. Since then she has continued as an instructor, drawing inspiration from her students, her teachers and the Eight Limbs of Yoga.
A variety of traditional postures taught in accurate alignment and sequence. Emphasis is placed on strength, flexibility, balance, concentration, and breathing. This class is based on body, mind, breath and spiritual connection. Suitable for all levels of practice. Variations will be offered for beginners and for advancing students.
Each class is fun and different, offering lots of variety.
